Sharper Image (Any Buyers?)

Sharper Image Puts Itself on the Block

As explained earlier, Sharper Image has some problems.

Their image is dull and I’m not really sure of the last time I’ve heard about anyone buying anything there. Now that they have cleaned the air a bit with their breezes, someone might want to buy them? They are a little bit like an upscale Radio Shack. I’m just not sure how these stores exist….

Fantasy Owners Can Breathe Easy

The cover for this year’s Madden video game will be Brett Farve. Although we cannot rule out a freak injury to his vocal chords which might offline him from his sideline announcer booth this year.Madden XX Brett Favre

Correlation Between Internet Search and Housing Prices

Hitwise Intelligence Search Data States Decline in Housing Market to Continue
House Prices.png
The use of internet data to amass a statistical market sample is a novel idea, but it does not correspond generally to all consumers. The “feelings” of the web can be tracked, but the offline world does still hold some relevancy. Traditional media has been calling for an end to the market slump as soon as the lenders eat their bad investments, while the web statistics from Hitwise state this trend could continue beyond that point. It will be interesting to see how this will play out.

At this point it is probably important to track these searches against the searches of basic necessities and searches of low cost suppliers such as Wal-mart. As searches for Wal-Mart rise, it is probable consumers are searching to meet basic needs rather than make large life decisions. I’d like to see this trending analysis performed with the other market factors in mind. Taking one small statistical sample like this probably could be improved in accuracy by tracking multiple search objects. This is a great idea, but there are many ways to expand and improve on this slowly building collective web data. Thank you Heather for sharing this data. I look forward to seeing more.

Google Ad(non)sense

Google Doesn’t Search Their Hearts

In a non-green minded move, Google has shut down payment to Ecocho. Ecocho is a custom search engine that promises to plant 2 trees for every 1,000 searches. Google Adsense policy prohibits compensation to third parties. Therefore Google has decided to let Ecocho die on the vine leafing them with no advertising support.  It could also be due to racist policies. Ecocho has a “black version”.  In reality the black version is to prevent excess white light from absorbing extra energy. Google might not be against green, but this move will not gain Eco-supporters.  Thanks SEO Tuts for the information.

Airing Out the Dirt on Air Purifiers

Ironic Ionic Breezes which Suck More Than Air and Generally Produces No Fans

Image:Air purifier internal.JPGOh yes, that Ionic Breeze Machine sitting in the corner of a room. In the new “green” (not from being sickening, but maybe…) world these machines seem like a dream. Often they are fanless (use less energy), filterless (no disposable landfill parts), and are sold on the image that they can improve the quality of the air in your home. Someone tested it. But why isn’t this news spreading? Researchers at UC Davis in 2006 proved that these contraptions spit out enough ozone to produce a damaging effect on the environment in someone’s home (Breathing and other unknown problems). Essentially you could become ozone poisoned by these devices… proving ozone is just the type of material that is good for the environment, but not so good in you…

First everyone is complaining about holes and it being missing. Now we have hot tubs and air-filters producing too much of it. It is poisoning our children and preventing us from breathing normally. Lock your door because with these benefits it could run off with your wallet.

It is also strange that most of these devices can be purchased in the airplane magazines. This is all part of the airlines’ evil plan to make the ground more like the sky by introducing large levels of ozone…certainly it is one idea to expand your business market…the 747 will feel right at home in your garage as long as you made a quick stop at Sharper Image…
